Category:Dinosaur Facts · Reading time:6 min

Utahceratops is a ceratopsian dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Utah, USA, measuring approximately 6 meters in length. It coexisted with Triceratops in the same region and time period, but featured a distinctly different frill design. Utahceratops had a wider frill with fewer, larger bony projections along the edge, short and robust brow horns. The discovery of Utahceratops further confirms the existence of highly diverse ceratopsian faunas in southern Laramidia during the Late Cretaceous. Morphological differences in frills and horns among ceratopsian species may have played a role in species recognition and reproductive isolation, preventing hybridization.
