Dilophosaurus captivates audiences with its twin head crests and expandable neck frill. While the venom-spitting depicted in Jurassic Park is fictional, the dramatic threat display makes this medium-sized theropod an exciting animatronic subject.

Frill Mechanism

Expandable neck frill uses fan-like rib structure covered with translucent silicone. Motorized deployment creates rapid expansion from folded to fully displayed state. LED backlighting creates colorful display patterns. Retraction sequence slower than deployment, mimicking biological relaxation. Frill edge detail includes vascular pattern simulation.

Threat Display Sequence

Alert detection via motion sensor triggers escalation sequence: head orientation toward stimulus, crest erection, frill expansion, jaw gaping with hiss sound, forward lunge (within safe limits), and gradual de-escalation if stimulus retreats. Full cycle 8-12 seconds. Randomized timing prevents habituation.
