Edmontosaurus is a large hadrosaurid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of North America, reaching lengths of up to 13 meters. It was one of the most common duck-billed dinosaurs in North America during the end of the Cretaceous (Maastrichtian stage), living alongside Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Alamosaurus. Edmontosaurus lacked a head crest but had a fleshy nasal crest at the front of its head, likely used for visual display in life. Its teeth were arranged in dense dental batteries, allowing it to efficiently grind various plant materials. Numerous Edmontosaurus fossils have been discovered in Alaska, indicating its ability to adapt to high-latitude cold environments and possibly survive winters near the poles.
